noise is a duty tliat rests with every employer. Incidentally, experiment has shown that 'it will result in an increase in output and efficiency up to 25 per cent. Many years of persuasion resulted in the Government realising that certain sights were harmful to the human mind. The 'result has been legislation to “preserve the amenities” of certain districts. More years of haid work by “mad” pioneers lias shown that impurities in the air are harmful, not only to the nose, but to the whole body, and so we have various Acts against smoke and other nuisances. Possibly, now that the ice, so to speak, has been broken by motor horns, we shall soon have Acts making it illegal to employ men and women in noisy rooms, to raise the voice in a restaurant, or to demonstrate musical ability or debility in the street!
