‘ANNUAL MEETING. WELLINGTON, October 29. The ninth annual meeting of shareholders in the Golden Bay Cement Company, Ltd., was held to-day, when there wag a representative gathering of shareholders. Tile chairman of th© company, Sir Joseph Ward was unable to be present owing to ill-health, and Captain Charles- McArthur ocupied the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and account for the year ended .Tune 30th, 1920, the chairman said that in connexion with tile c action of the new plant, unforeseen delays had fa ken place, hut the work \vas progressing speedily, and it was anticipated that it would he ready to operate early next year. The Board wished to record its appreciation of the work of the exceptive officers of the ‘('arahoho works during the last year. ..-Stoppages had occurred during the year duo to the fire in March and the earthquake in June, and their work had also been Somewhat hampered by the new construction going mi. The fact that the out-turn of cement had been so well maintained reflected great credit on all concerned, Tin; meeting confirmed the appointment to Ihe Board of Messrs George ,Shirtcliffo and J. M. A. Ilott and the retiring director, .Sir Joseph Ward, was re-elected. Mr P. E. Pqttl'ick was elected auditor for the ensuing year, At a- subsequent meeting of the Board of directors, Sir Joseph Ward was appointed chairman, and Gap tain Charles McArthur was appointed •deputy-chairman.
