DISABLED SOLDIERS

SUGGESTED REMEDY

(By Telegraph—Per- Dress Association.)

DUNEDIN, Nov. 1. The Disabled Soldiers Commission continued its sitting this, morning. Mr Mitchell (President of the Otago Employers Association) expressed the opinion the work of the Repatriation Department was discontinued too soon. If disabled men were employed by manufacturers as employees on under-rate workers permits, it was quite possible the psychological effect on the men, of having something to do, would enable them to earn a larger wage through becoming increasingly competent and they might, in the course of time, be capable of earning full wages. There wore possibilities of dealing with the nroblem by either using established technical schools or establishing others where men could be taught suitable trades. If something on those lines were found practicable it would, in conjunction with the farm training, proved by another witness, solve the whole problem.
