SCHEME

ißy Telegraph, Pe r Press Asuor-iiitum

WELLINGTON, October 31.

Tho annual meeting of the Flock House organisation was held to-day, tho Hon. Newman presiding. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, Hon Newman congratulated the subscribers on another successful year. He regarded the after care of boys and girls as being really the keynote of the success of yhe scheme. The results of the farm operations during the past year had hoe 1 ' more successful than in any previous year. He disapproved of a resolution passed by certain Labour Unions ex-, pressing the opinion that the Government should take steps to discourage the bringing out of British bovs. He was inclined to think the British hoys coming out to New Zealand had t 1 *is advantage over New Zealand boys, that they were not so wrapped up in sport as New Zealanders, and were more prepared to take up positions the baekblocks. Hon. Newman was re-elected president. Mrs Jackson, president of the Women’s Branch, of the Farmers’ Union, defined tlie assistance given by that organisation to the young men and women brought out under file Flock House scheme, and similar remarks were made on behalf of the Y.W.C.A. Votes of thanks were passed to the staff.
