FATHER PIGOT’S SUCCESSOR

SYDNEY, October 31

Rev. Father William O’Leary, S.J., of Ireland, arrived here by the liner “ Naldera ” to-day, to take over the late Dr Pigot’s place as the Director and, Seismologist at the Riverview Jesuit Observatory. Father O’Leary stated that Australia is looked upon as one of the really important seismographlc stations in the world, and the headquarters, at Strasbourg, have always looked for the reports sent out from Riverview College Observatory, where the instruments are first-class ones.

Father O’Leary added: “Australia being out of the Pacific Coast zone, there is no need for a fear of earthquakes.”
