The “Hypatia,” in the direct cargo service with New, York, grounded on Whale Rock, a mile off Robhen Island, at tne entrance to Table Bay, at five ofclock this morning, in a mist. She arrived six weeks ago and went as far as Beira, where she loaded a large ‘ quantity of copper ore, and also hides at the Coast ports. She is fully loaded, and is now firmly fixed. She has a crew of 75 of which 15 are white. There was no panic. Two lifeboats were rowed to the mainland. Tugs were sent out and the remainder of the crew salved the officers’ belongings and the ship’s papers. Owing to the swell it wns impossible .to approach the rock, which is tearing out the bottom of the vessel which will probably be a total wreck.
