Robert Abbott, wealthy Nego newspaper proprietor, of Chicago, has cabled Marley (member of the Commons) complaining that he and his wife were not only refused accommodation in London hotels on account of their colour, but when they were returning first-class aboard the Aquitania were forced in to the grill room and deprived of music and other entertainment. Marley who is raising the matter in Parliament stated that three prominent coloured persons were recently excluded from London dance halls, and that lie had written to Lord Passfield resenting the affront. The proprietor of the dance hall interviewed declared that his hall was intended for whites only, and he ab 7 solutely refused to admit coloured .people, however eminent.
