A FATALITY. TWO CHILDREN DROWNED. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association. j x DUNEDIN, Oct. 28. Arthur Algie (aged 12) and Douglas Hayward (aged 12) two members of a quartet who went fishing in a lagoon at Sterling on Saturday afternoon were drowned when a leaky fiat-bottomed punt sunk in 10ft. of water. Stephen Algie (aged 15) and Archie Hanly (aged 12) were thrown clear of the punt. Algie was the only member of the party who' could swim. Algie got Hanly ashore. Hayward’s body was recovered, but efforts at resuscitation were unavailing.

Nothing was saved except a Few sporting trophies. Insurances are unavailable. NO SIGN OF MISSING CHILD. , GISBORNE, Oct. 28. The Fire Brigade-s trailer pumps were engaged all night pumping out a pond near the Showground, 525,000. gallons being lifted and the water levels reduced to a foot after which volunteers made a complete search of the weeds and slime at the bottom of the pond but found no trace of the missing child, Harry Boyd Foote.[
