(Australian Press Association). HOUSEBREAKER KILLED. (Received this day at 8.30. a.m.) SYDNEY, October 29. M ounce, otherwise Bud Bourke, > aged'24 years, a New Zealander, was killed at Scone, New South Wales, while breaking in a young horse which fell on him causing concussion. Deceased who was a well-known roughrider horse breaker is understood to be a champion horseman in New Zealand, winning Jive medals, also the championship of Australia. He was here oil a holiday with a New Zealand companion, Buck Harris. Bourkc’s body was interred at Aberdeen to-day. COAL COMMISSION. SYDNEY, October 29. At the Coal Commission, Janies Johnstone manager of Richmond Main Colliery near Newcastle, gave evidence that ten per cent, of the members of the Miners Federat.on caused all the trouble. They used their full powers of intimidation while ninety per cent, lacked moral courage, or more correctly industrial courage. The average iridividual was altogether different from what he was collectively and a majority cotild be swayed without difficulty. DEAD MINE. (Received this day at 12 noon). SYDNEY, Oct. 29. The mine recovered by the Koraga yesterday, was harmless. It had evidently been dead for many years. This is the 27th. mine to be found in Australian waters. •\ v • MURDER CHARGE. MELBOURNE, Oct. 28. A man entered Casterton police station and said he had killed Ins wife, on a small farm, near town. The police found the body of Emily Pickens with her head badly battered and a bloodstained spade nearby. John Pickens was later charged with murder.
