OWNER FOUND
OF £SO. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.). AUCKLAND', Oct. 28. After handing five £lO notes to a stranger to mind for him on August 15th. last, and then forgetting all about it next morning, a Maori bushman disappeared. He had been having some liquor and the stranger who proved to be Mr Henry J. Marks, handed the money to the police. An inquiry at the Native Land Court elicited that a Maori named Maunroa Toatoua had, been paid £193 6n August loth. Asked whether he had given £SO to a stranger to mind for him, he said he thought he had lost the money. To-day, at the suggestion of the police he met Mr Marks at the office of Police Inspector Hollis. He identified Marks and an ex-constable recognised Toatorua. The money was handed over to him and lie made a substantial gift to Marks.
