A graphic illustration of London’s grip on crime was provided to-day by Lord Byng at Piccadilly Tube. He telephoned to Scotland Yard: “I want a flying squad to meet me at Piccadilly station.” Then he hung up the receiver and walked up the steps to the street and was confronted by the police car. “I have just telephoned for you,” said Lord fevng to the officer in charge. . “We’ve just received word by wireless, Sir, as we were travelling in Regent St,” was the reply.
