Until these rivers are bridged—the Punakaiki river will be finished about ’Xmas but the Porarari and Fox are still to be started, though the contracts for these works have been let. In the meantime Newmans Bros. Ltd.-/arc running services between Westport and Greymouth and vice versa. The timetable, however, must be subject to tide and weather conditions. These two unbridged rivers are subject to spbstnrf tial floods after rain, which will hold up any motor traffic for a time. Passengers from or to Westport will hi carried by Newmans Motors Ltd. to Greymouth to connect with the through service.
