A large and enthusiastic meeting of the citizens was held this afternoon, the Mayor of Dunedin presidng-, when it was decided to form a New Zealand Branch of ,the British Empire Cancer Campaign. Sir L. E. Barnett, Sir liinda Ferguson, and B'r Bath (’Professor of Pathology at Otago University), made forcible speeches, -in which they referred to the effects of the cancer scourge on the human race, and showed how the disease may be counteracted by the application of radium. Already, the fund collected in the district is assuming considerable dimensions a.nd the principal committee is- to meet next week to form subcommttees to carry on the work with rigour.
