ANNUAL MEETING.'
The annual meeting was held at the Club Rooms at 8 p.m. Mr F, McGregor (President) occupied the chair, and there were 15 members present. Apologies were made for Messrs Parry and W. Newman. - '
The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed.
ANNUAL REPORT.
• Gentlemen: I have pleasure in submitting herewith for your consideration the annual report and statement of receipts and expenditure for the year . ending 30th.' September, 1929. At the last annual meting the members present elected the following gen- , jfiemen as the executive for the year, viz: Messrs F. McGregor, f J. J. Breeze jun., J. J. Mclntosh’ M. Houston, W. E. Richards, C. J. P. Sellers, A. W. Yarrall, R. Whiley, J. Stafford, C. S. Neville, E.. W. Heenan, D. R. Dowell and J. J. Mclntosh junr., and as usual these members took a very keen interest iii the conduct of the Club’s business. The annual race meeting pf the Club was held on Thursday 3rd, January 1929, and was a very successful one.. \ Excellent nominations and acceptances were received, the various' events were well filled and the racing was very Interesting, The sum. of £6,064 was * passed through, the totalisator, sfe * against J 06,213 at the previous meeting; but”t‘his slight decrease is accounted for by the fact that owirig to a protest arid an appeal, the whole of the money invested on the principal event vi^j: £1,175 was impounded for " 'the rest of the day. The gate receipts amounted ‘ to £l9O osfc Od which was quite 'satisfactory. The Government taxation is ' -still a very heavy drain on the finances of the Club, and in this connection ; the suni of £4BO 4s 6d was paid by way of taxation,; less a Rebate which amounted io £7s’l6s Id. id. Mb Reid, of Hamil-ton,.-.attended in t}ie capacity of: : stipendiary Steward ;and' his report to the Conference, on the conduct of the' meeting was very satisfactory..: The ‘ refreshment' rooms were .again conducted on behalf .of the Club, by. ’ ady .under, the management if Mrs O. Fowler, and the Club greatly appreciated their kind assistances. ■Vi,;, Mr D. J.,Eyaps'represented the Otub • at the Conference at Wellington in Tuly, Inst, and the best thanks of the Club..are due to him in this connection. ?. Our next race meeting will be. held '■ on ‘Friday 3rd. January 1930, and a M rirdgramme of events is to .be immediatbly drawn up for same., i.;' Tn conclusion I wish ,to express our si-thanks to the Westland Licensed VictG'tialiers’ Association' for 1 their donation •. of a' silver cup to the winner,, of the V Westland Trotting Handicap, to Messrs James Noble and H. The Chairman, in mbving the adoption of the report and balance sheet-, said all things considered they could consider .iijie result, of the past year * was satisfactory. There was a prospect of , the coming season proving'a successful one. . Mir Sellers seconded the motion. Prime Minister and Member* for the district to be jjjp.sked to give assistance in the passage of the Bill. From New Zealand Trotting Association, notifying revised rules have been printed and are available.—Received. It was resolved to procure six copies.

Mr McGregor returned thanks for his re-election as President, which he deeply appreciated, and he would continue to do his utmost to advance the best- interests of trotting in the district. • • Handicapper—Mr J. Noble. There was some discussion over the appointment of handicapper, but after discussion Mr Noble was re-appointed. - Starter —Mr H. Butland. Clerk of Course—Mr F. Fane. Clerk of Scales—Mr C. J.
