Messages from Dearborn, Michigan, .states Mr, Hoover paid a tribute to Edison on the 50th. anniversary of the latter’s development of the incandescent electric lamp, which was also the occasion of the dedication of Edison Institute of Technology, which is Ford’s gift. Mr Hoover stated: “Edison, using an organised systematic laboratory for research, has been one of the great leaders who converted the pure physics of electricity into a taxable product. To-day, the Governments of the world levy upwards of sixty billions of; new wealth, founded upon electricity, hut taxes on the new wealth are not the major accomplishment of a man of this genius. They are the r.vcrs of sweat saved from the backs of men and in nite drudgery relieved from the hands of women.”

Einstein ; will' be speaking for two minutes through the medium of the Trans-Atlantic telephone, for one minute in German, and the other in English.
