CHARGE OF INDE'pENT , ASSAULT. <By Telegraph--Press Association). AUCKLAND, Oct. 21; Doctor Balder Singh Share, aged 46,an Indian doctor, appeared at the Police Court today charged with indecently assaulting a woman aged 23, on Sept.-' 26th. . ,011 The woman said that she went do the accused’s surgery to have a finger dressed. The accused attended to her, arid he afterwards remarked that she was not a very robust girl. He advised an examination. Witness partially undressed, and Share carried out an examination, on a couch. During the examination, witness became suspicious. Share gave her a certificate for two weeks’ holiday, and said that she could come back for a further examination whenever she liked. Witness went back to work and complained to her employer, a woman. That night she told her young man of what had happened, and a complaint was later made to the police. Before she left the surgery; Share showed her some -photographs. 'The first of these Were quite decent. f“'Br.Tewsleyßpcflicef surgeon, said that a certain -part of the examihation carried orit by Share, as described by the girl, was very unusual.

When accused was arrested on October 14th., Share said: “It’s a serious charge. It’s hard when a slip of a girl can riiake a charge against a doctor.” After reading the warrant himself, the ‘ accused said it' was Untrue, but he added that he would adrtiit that there were some very bad photographs fourid “I have been up against it for some time,” hr said “If I sell my home and leave the country, will it riiake any difference ? This will kill m.V wife’find my son.”'

Share pleaded riot guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
