ELECTRIC FITTINGS
NO CHANGE IN REGULATIONS. WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. Questioned by Mr Holland (Christchurch North) regarding a statement published in Chirstchurh that the Government ■ regulations issued several weeks ago notified users of electricity that their electrical fittings, wiring and switches wore all obsolete and must be replaced by more modern fittings the Minister of Public Works has replied that no new Government regulations covering the installation of electrical fitting's and switches have been issued since 1927.' The 1927. issue of regulations does not allow certain methods of. installing switches which were permitted in earlier regulations, but they do .not call for altering existing work unless such work is actually dangerous. The Electrical Advisory Committee have recently given an interpretation that a certain type of switch which has been removed in some cases is not sufficiently dangerous to warrant removal, though it is not permitted in new installations.
