MAN DROWNED. * [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] NAPIER, October 21. A formal verdict of death by drowning was returned at the inquest on Phillip Rex Dodwell, ex-bank clerk, single, aged thirty-six, who took an epeliptic seizure while surf bathing on the Napier beach on Saturday afternoon. He was floating face downwards for some time' before he was noticed. Artificial respiration was applied without success. • MOTORS COLLIDE. MARTON, October 21. A collision ' occurred yesterday between cars driven 'by W. Vollkerljng and J.' Jellyman as a result of whicli Mrs Vollkerling was thrown on the road and seriously injured, arid two children were badly cut on the face with flying glass. All were hospitalled. Mrs Jellyman was also cut slightly., The drivers escaped with a shaking. CHILD DROWNED. DUNEDIN, October 21. Zita Isabel Hiddleston, aged 2}, was found drowned in three feet of water in Shag river, Dunback, yesterday. The river is close to the parent’s house, OLD SETTLER PASSES. , A SHOCKING ACCIDENT. MAN KILLED INSTANTLY. V HAWERA, Oct. 21. • ]'i Richard Morris, an employee .of the Hawera County Council,: was killed instantly this morning as a result ot being run over by a steam roller working the.- rood near Okaliftwa; ■ Morris was assisting with the operation of! trie roller, walking beside one of the rear wheels, when apparently, he stumbled ihnd fell beneath the wheel, which passed over his neck and upper pert of his hqdv. Morris was aged about 48 years and leaves a widow and six children.
