United Press Association— By Electric / Teleg. *ph—Qopyright). : i /Received this: day at fl-SVL a.m.Y NEW YORK, October 19., , : Seven banks which handled bootleg accounts and loaned vast sums to the emperors of the booze ring, to buy Scotch whisky in England, may be indicted following the arrest of the chief actors in Wednesday’s raid. The ring’s business apparently averaged I-two hundred thousand sterling per I week. Every Saturday they declared n twelve to eighteen per cent dividend so that if ever a blowup came, ns apparently happened, settlements between the rum barons would be almost up to date. Federal agents found the remarkable success of the rum syndicate was partly due to spies in Uncle Sam’s coastguard service wearing the country’s uniform.
