TRAIN HOLD-UP

A sensational train hold-up by armed, masked Dac-oits, was frustrated at Malerkotla in the Punjab by the pluck of the engine crews. While the train was travelling at night, a passenget(, armed with a revolver, pulled the communication cord and brought the train to a standstill. A gang of twenty immediately appeared from the darkness. Guns were fired at the crews of both engines, wounding the drivers. The Dacoits attempted to force a safe in the guard’s van, hut they were driven off by a fusilade by the guard and the firemen.
