ARMISTICE DAY
DETAILS OF OBSERVANCE. (British Official) Wireless). RUGBY, October ,15. Arrangements for the celebratioh in London of Armistice Day, on Monday, November 11, are now complete. They follow the lines adopted in previous years, except that the numbei of troops at the Cenotaph will be substantially reduced. Detachments of the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force, merchant navy and fishing fleets, and exservice men’s associations will march to the Cenotaph and form a hollow square. Wreaths will be deposited by or on behalf of the King and other members of the Royal family, and by representatives of the British Government, the dominions, • India, the colonies and protectorates and the services.
Following the two-minutes’ silence the Bishop of London will conduct a short service which will be broadcasted by the British Broadcasting Corporation, after which the official deputations and the general public will bs marshalled into streams moving along Whitehall to Westminister, so that wreaths may be laid on the Cenotaph, and the grave of the Unknown Warrior visited.
During the two-minutes’ silence, the beginning and ending of which will be notified by the firing of a salute, all vehicular traffic throughout the Kingdom will remain still. Details of the celebration are being sent to all parts of the Empire to assist in the general co-operation, as in past years, in observance of the anniversary.
