GENERAL CABLES

WOOL SLUMP. BRADFORD VIEWS. United Press Association. —By Electrii Telegraph.—Copyright.) /Received this dnv at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, October 17. The “Yorkshire Observer,” in an editorial, says the startling slump in wool values is exercising the minds of Australian pascoralists who are now expressing resentment at Bradford’s seeming apathy in connection with the use of more wool campaign. It is difficult to understand why Australians should base great expectations on Bradford, where manufacturers are finding they have paid too much for everything bought before the present sales. If Bradford helped to pay for the Australian campaign, pastoralists would not refrain from accepting fractional advances from foreign competitors.

A CELEBRATION. (Received this dnv nt 12.25. p.m ’ LONDON, October 17. There was a picturesque celebration at Coldbeck centenary of the hunting song. “John Peel.” including a combined hunt at which Peel was impersonated and the pack summoned by a horn which he used. The assemblage lustily applauded the song. Unfortunately the pilgrimage was married by coarse vandalism. Sheets of iron were tied to conceal the inscription on the memorial stone to the author of the song, John Woodstock Graves, who died at Hobart.
