'The ,High Court in a reserved judgment upheld an appeal bv the Crown aghirist the' decision of the Full Court in the case of Babcock Wilcox Ltd. and restored the penalties imposed on the, respondent firm last year. The Court held that the circumstances of' the case supported the finding that the late Sir Charles Ivemnal caused .£10,600 to be placed to the credit of Frank Buckle in payment of a bribe demanded by Silas Maling. vln July of. last year the firm was convicted, of /bribery Silas Maljng as a reward for'his recommending their tender for plant to be accepted, and were fined £IOOO and - ordered to refund £10,630 to! the Sydney City Council.
