SHIPBUILDING

Q UARTERLY RETURNS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 10 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. Lloyd’s Register of shipbuilding returns for the quarter to 30th September, show the total world tonnagebeing constructed is 2,817,539, of which 1,448,355 is being built in Great Britain. The latter figures show a decrease of 5551 in work in hand, compared with last June, but an increase of 35,895 on tonnage being built at the end of 1928. The tonnage being built in Britain includes 65,000 intended for the Dominions. There are 651,875 tons of motorships being built in Britain and 879,878 abroad.
