THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
ARM'STICE DAY CEREMONIAL. Common sense has prevailed with, the British Government in its decision not to delete military ceremonial from the Armistice Day service at the Cenotaph. It will be remembered that recently the Free Church Council asked that tne service be made wholly civil and religious in character. The peaceful ideals of the Government are unquestioned but it has rightly declined to agree to this emasculation of the day. Armed troops are, therefore, to be present to do military honour "to the memory of the warriors. whose death the Cenotaph commemorates.” And most people will agree that the Government’s decision is fitting and seemly. —Yfellington “Dominion.”
