£SOOO FOR RADIUM
OFFER TO AUCKLAND HOSPITAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 15. The Cook Hospital Board, Gisborne, which recently received a donation of five thousand pounds from Mr J. Clarke for the purchase of radium, has offered to place the money at the disposal of the Auckland 'Hospitail Board for that purpose. The conditions are that cancer patients from its district should oe treated free in Auckland, its right being reserved to have the money returned if Gisborne ever became of sufficient size to have a radium plant of its own.
Wilh the Government’s subsidy the Auckland Board would have about £7500 at its disposal, and with this sum it would increase its radium, stock to one gramme, the amount considered necessary.
The matter came before the Auckland Board ito-day in the fonn of a letter from Doctor Gray, of the Health Department, and it was referred to the Finance Committee for a report.
