NUN’S JUBILEE By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. • DUNEDIN, ' Oct. 15. Mother Mary Bertrand, the last of the band of pioneer Dominican Sisters who came to New Zealand 60 years ago, and who established a Dominican Convent in Dunedin, celebrated hpr sixtieth year of her life as a nun, today. The celebrations included Pontifical High Mass, a' garden fete, and a presentation which took the form of a scholarship in her name, providing tuition at 'the convent for secondary pupils. OILFIELDS’ REPORT. GISBORNE, Oct. 15. Taranaki Oilfields report for the week ended 12th. October: Gisborne NO. 2 well: Completed driving piles and concrete work well forward. Kotuku No. 1 test hole: No progress has been made the drilling rods being fast in the hole.
TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. CHRISTCHURCH, October 15. At court to-day, James Midland Anderson, aged 18, and Maurice Hamilton Gregory, aged 17, were remanded for a week on a charge of being found by night without lawful excuse on premises in Papanui Road. Bail; was fixed at £SOO for each, with sureties of £SOO. : '•' ;;
The police said Anderson when arrested had an electric torch and Gre, gory hhd an automatic pistol with one live cartridge; also a sandbag, tyre lever, and piece of black cloth.
