Owing to arrangements for the opening of the Tennis Courts at Three Mile not being quite complete, the opening ball has been altered from October 23rd to Wednesday, October 30th, the music being supplied by the Black Hand Orchestra.

The basket ball and football teams from Hokitika Technical School met Reefton teams at Reefton on Saturday. The football team were victors over the Reefton school by 23—3. The visiting basket ball team were defeated by the Reefton girls in their match, the score being 12—6.
While motoring from the Grey Valley to Reefton on Thursday night, Dr Wicken’s car struck a horse, that jumped from the side of the road in front of the car. The car’s radiator was badly smashed and the machine disabled, and another motor had to be obtained from Reefton to bring t 1 Doctor and his companion (Mr C. Sadler) to Reefton. The horse which must have been seriously hurt by the impact, galloped away down the road.
A serious accident occurred on Thursday evening to a motor cyclist named C. Broughton, employed on the Reefton Railway. He was coming along Smith Street, when he struck the back of a motor car driven by Mr A. Davies, and was thrown a good distance, sustaining severe abrasions, and cuts to the face and head. He was taken to Reefton Hospital for medical treatment. Tne motor cycle was badly injured. *

Ttya final of the Greymouth Golf Club’s senior championship was played: over 36 holes, between W. P. McCarthy, the holder, and A. K. Smith. Excellent weather conditions prevailed but a strong wind and uneven greens made good scoring difficult. After a very even game, McCarthy won the title by the margin of 4 up and 3 to play. The death took place at Kfinieri yesterday afternoon of Mrs Stankey, wife of Mr Antonio Stankey, ! well known residents of Kanieri over a long period of years. The deceased was a native of Poland and. 71 years of age, 53 years.; ‘ having being-Spent ’in New "Zealand/Deceased leaves a husband and- family of three, daughters (Mrs Young pf Greymouth, Mrs Davis of Wellington and Miss Mary Stankey of Kanieri) and three sons (John and Thomas of Kanieri and Joseph of Christchurch). Many friends will extend sympathy to the bereaved in their loss.
