BANDITS HOLD TRAIN.

PARIS, August 26. Two armed and masked bandits wearing black gloves held up the guard of the Riviera express train from Ventimille, near the Italian frontier, to Paris, due here at 8.15 this morning, between Lyons and Macon. The guard states that he was sitting in his van behind the engine when he heard the command “Hands up I” He turned round and found himself looking into the muzzels of two revolvers. One of the men, lie says, hound him and then opened the mail-hags. It seemed certain that the bandits would get away with a rich haul, when the train stopped, the driver having discovered that something was wrong with the engine, The bandits escaped without waiting to tajte anything.
