GENERAL CABLES
. POLICE STATEMENT. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) PARIS, October 6. With the laconic police announcement; “This affair is completely cleared up,” the judicial stage of the sensational Marquis burial is ended. The extraordinary affair has entailed no discovery of the secret society which was strongly suggested in the earlier reports. The detention of the man Boulogne, who helped to put the dead man in the wooden box, is the only official reminder of the tragedy. Boulogne also seems to have convinced the police that he is innocent in any murderous design, but that he merely helped a ruse that was designed to boost the book. He is still in custody, but he is not likely to be charged with anything more than homicide by imprudence for wheih the maximum penalty is two years.
DIVORCE STATISTICS. (Received this day at 9. a.rn.) ' LONDON, October 7. The tenth year of matrimony is the .most dangerous, according to analysis in the Registra-General’s report on divorce. Formerlf the eighth year was considered the riskiest. Despite the oldest generations belief that present day youngsters marry thoughtlessly and divorce without delay, early annulments of marriage are rare and becoming rarer. Not one marriage in ten thousand is dissolved in the first year, the majority of divjorces being sought by people who. have been married for some time. Only fourteen per cent of those married for five years are divorced while those married for ten years or over show fifty-two per cent.
HATRY CHARGE. this day at 8.30. a.m.) LONDON, October 7. Hatry and co-defendants appeared at Guildhall Police Court and were remanded till Friday. Then the Court was cleared and was turned into an accountant’s office. A large table was heavily laden with ledgers, account books and documents and defendants settled down for a day’s conference with Garnsey.
