WARRNAMBOOL ROAD RACE
OPPERMAN DISQUALIFIED. MELBOURNE, October 7. Further changes have been made in the platings for the Warrnambojl road race. H. Opperman, who was awarded first place, was disqualified from the race to-day, and was also suspended for one month for boring Nicholson into the crowd at ».he finish. Nicholson off the six minutes mark, is now placed first, and awarded the blue ribbon. Foster comes in as second and MacLeod third.
MacLeod (scratch), time Shrs. 7inin. 22secs. is now the Winner of the fastest time.
Kirkhnm was disqualified and fined 2Cs for riding in a car and finishing over the line.
Marshall, • who finished first, was disqualified by officials of the League off Victorian Wheelmen for receiving drink from an unauthorised person and also a we(; towel. The Dunlop officials, promoters of the race, consider tha ■ the action was too drastic, and that a nominal fine would have met the case, as the rule was only recently adopted. Marshall has appealed, and the decision -will be given in the course of a few days.
