AVELLIN G TON AHI PORT. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. AY EL LING TON, Oct. 4. . Matters in connection with AVellington’s airport are moving satisfactorily. The preparation of the ground is nearing completion and November 16th has been fixed as the date of the opening air pageant. Fees fixed by the City Council are from 2s for a single landing by a small type of machine occupying less than 500 square feet of floor space to £1 10s for a large type occupying over 3600 square feet, with more than two engines. Daily housing fees range from 3s to £1 10s. Monthly rates range from £4 10s, exclusive of landing fees and £6 10s, inclusive of landing fees to £36 and £66. Afontli]y rates for private machines range from £2 10s and £3 10. s to £3O and £4O. There will be a charge on the general public for entrance to the ground. This is to provide certain revenue and partly to prevent crowds of children assembling on the grounds, which arc contiguous to a closely settled area at Rongotai and Lvall Bay. The council will be responsible for any accident. PECULIAR FATALITY. 7 HAMILTON, October 5. At the inquest on James Norrics, aged fifty-nine, .poundkeeper, of Cambridge, the Coroner was unable to decide the cause of the injury leading to death. Norrics was found unconscious last Saturday beside a horse which he had been saddling. He did not regain consciousness, and died in the hospital at Hamilton on Thursday. A post mortem icvcaled no external injuries, but a fracture of the skull, five inches long, and considerable laceration of the brain. The blow must have been severe. The Coroner, remarking on the unusual nature of the injuries, returned a verdict according to the medical evidence. BOY KILLED. BY AIOTOR CAR, NBAV PLYMOUTH, October 6. Laurence Jordan, aged 13 years, was knocked down by a car on Saturday afternoon, and lie died soon after being admitted to hospital. The accident occurred in the dense traffic returning from the Bellblock Aerodrome, where four aeroplanes had bec/n .giving a ‘ demonstration. A fractured skull was the cause of death. The driver of the car was Douglas Lobb. RAILWAY TRAGEDY FARMER FALLS UNDER TRAIN. •) AUCKLAND, October 6. Fatal .injuries were sustained by .John Fryer, aged 54, a married farmlabourer, of I’oerata. as> the result of falling from a train between Pukckohc and Poerata early on Saturday evening. The man was found alongside the railway line with a leg and an arnf severed. He was brought to .Auckland Hospital, where ho died this afternoon.
