A GAS SUICIDE
AFTER'SUSPICIOUS FIRE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, October 5. At 10.50 a.m. to-day, Albert Victor Clements, married, with five children, <.aged: ? dead under circumstances pointing to suicide. The deceased, until recently, resided at 22, Holly Road, and he was concerned in the inquiry into the outbreak of fire at his house that was heard on Thursday last. Since the fire, the deceased has been staying with relatives. He was missed last evening, and it was thought that he had gone to a house in 79, Glantlovy Road, Fendalton, which he owned, but he did not occupy it. A constable went to search the house this morning. He searched every room without finding any trace of Clements. It was then noticed that the washhouse door, was locked from the inside.. The police broke into the building, and there found the deceased, lying on his back, with his head against a gas pipe, from which gas was escaping.
