' TIMARU -TO CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Pre« Association). TIMARU, October 5. The first riders in the Timaru to Christchurch road race left at nine o’clock and the scratch men at ten o’clock. The weather was perfect and the roads seemed to be in a good condition. ■ \ | Of ninety-one entries eighty-five, took the -road, the most notable nonstarter being N. Bellhouse, of New Plymouth. All arrangements worked perfectly but there was a strange lack of enthusiasm there being scarcely a cheer as the men took the road.
