'By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) The Sime-Black match is disappointing. Black is playing fervent golf; his round was 72. Sime played badly for him and could only record an 81 round. A feature of Black’s game is ’the sound putting. Black scored a sensational win at the Outlook 7th. Sime bad a sitter for a 4. Black’s approach was too strong and cannoned off Sime’s ball for a 3 and a win. The Catliro-Morpeth match is a very close match and a very fine display of golf. Morpeth was 3 up at Alma 13t.1i but Cathros absolute steadiness in the run borne wiped out the deficiency and at the end of the first 18 holes the mate'll is square. Both recorded 73 rounds. Cathro is safe. The game trying Morpeth to his best. MRS DODSHUN WINS. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. CHRISTCHURCH, October 3. The final of the New Zealand Golf Championship was won by Mrs Dodsliun (Otago) from Miss 0. Kay (St. Clair Club) in a match over thirty-six holes to-day. Tlie match ended on the thirty-eighth green. Miss Kay finished the morning round one up. Miss Kay was stymied three times in this rourid. Airs Dodsliun squared the match at the first hole in the afternoon round, and was three up at., the turn. Tlie match was square at the 35th green. The thirty-sixth was halved and they went on. The thirty-seventh halved in bogey four, hut at the 38th Miss Kay was off. the fairway in a hunker, and took, two to get out: Airs Dodsliun went out in 36 and came home in 39. ATiss Kay picked up at one hole outward, but was 35 for 8 holes. She came home m 36. Miss Kav was stymied five times in the match. MENS’ SEMI-FINALS. AIORPETH AND BLACK LEFT IN. WANGANUI, October 3. In the semi-finals of the New Zealand amateur golf championship at Belmont links to-day, Sloan Alorpetli was lucky to beat the local player, L. Cathro, one up on the thirtysixth green. J. L. Black accounted for A. G. Sime five nip and four to play. The second bogey handicap was won by J. Goss (Wanganui) seven up. The professional bogey handicap won by L. Ross 3 up. The matches were again played in beautiful fine weather.*
