EGYPT’S AUTONOMY
CABINET’S RESIGNATION. (United Press Associauion—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). v LONDON, Oct. 2. The Times correspondent at Alexandria says: Owing to a new Egyptian crisis, the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mahmud Pasha, had an audience with the King, at noon, and lie will not hand in the resignation of the whole Cabinet. .... A general election, under the direct suffrage law, is expected, but it is still uncertain whether the Wafd Party, now that it has triumphed in securing Mahmud’s elimination, will agree that the proposed Treaty will be the basis of the election. The Wafd is sure of a majority, whether or not the election law is adopted. Mahmud’s resignation thus means a return to Parliamentary life, with a Wafd Cabinet in office to deal with the Treaty. EGYPTIAN CABINET. * ' CAIRO, October 2. The Egyptian Cabinet resigned at noon.
