BENZINE VAPOUR IGNITED. OUTBREAK IN BUSINESS PR EADSES. (By Telegraph—Press Association). , AVEIi LING TON, October 1. AYliilo dipping curtains in benzine at her home 11 Ballanco Street, Kilbirnie, this morning, the vapour became ignited, and Airs Mabel Elliott had part of her clothing burnt off and received severe burns to the left side of her face and left forearm and leg. First-aid was rendered by members of the Fire Brigade which was called out to quell the fire in tbe washhouse and scullery, which were damaged. A fire broke out in a three-storeyed concrete building, 22 A'ivian Street, owned by T. A. AVclls, and insured in the .State Fire Office for £3OOO. The fire had broken out on the second floor in the premises occupied bv A. J. AY ijigs, and Son. The office, storerooms and contents, were damaged by fire and water. .This firm’s stock is insured for £250. Damage was done by smoke and heat to the office and show-rooms of Alohegan (N.Z.), Ltd., which, is also on the second floor. The stock of the firm was not insured. Another firm on the same floor had showrooms damaged, the stock being insured for £350. On the first floor the Clubrooms of the Hellenic Association suffered damage by water. The contents were insured for £350.
