NEW LORD MAYOR OF LONDON
SIR WILLIAM WATER LOW. LONDON, September 29. Alderman Sir William Wnterlow, the Sheriff, has been elected land Mayor of London in succession to Sir J. E. Ivynaston Studd. Sir William Wnterlow belongs to an old City family, one member of which was Lord Mayor in 1572-3. Born in 1.871, he was educated at Marlborough amt in Germany, and has been connected with the well-known firm of City printers hearing his name for many years. His company’s prominent services during the war led to his being made a K.B.E. in 1921. Joining the Corporation as a Commander in 1914, lie succeeded Sir Edward Cooper as Alderman of Cornhill /Ward in 1922, and was elected Sheriff last year. He is -Master of the Stationers’ Company, a past president of both Master Printers’ Associations, a J.P. for Middlesex and a Lieutenant 'of the City of London. He married Miss Adelaide Hay Gordon, of Edinburgh, in 1904, and has two sons.
The Lord Mayor is elected at Aliehaqlmns, he is sworn into office on November 8, and on the following day
