Stevens had ail easy win over Miss Payton, who, however, re-established herself as a first-clas*-player by returning the best gross score in the afternoon. The L.G.C. Challenge Bowl was won by Miss H. Loughnaii. Her nett score was 71. Miss Payton, with 79, won the prize for the best gross score. The best cards were: Miss Loughnan 84—13—71; Miss V. Fleming 90— 7 73: Mrs Riittray 91-18—73; Mrs It. L. Wilson 82-2*2—74; Miss Lawlor *7—l3—-74.

G.-*iVyhiU oil behalf- df- the Parkvale Cliib, to ampnd the New Zealand Golf Associtftion’s' rules' to provide for the setting up of , District Associations, created a lively ■ discussion at the annual conference of the Association to-night. Mr Fryer also- proposed that the capital levjr'should remain at 2s for mei\ and lk for ladies, hut that a percentage of-the sum raised by each Association should be retained 'by it, and the balaiice remitted to tlie New Zealand Association. >. Mr L. Seifert ‘(Palmerston - North) ;.vas of the opinion that golf could not be worked in Now Zealand without some centralised organisation. Other delegates objected on the score of expense. They contended golf Gas an individual game and it could not be seen what work there would be for Sub-Associations to do. The proposal was lost, .29 votes be- ' jug recorded in its favour; and, 89 votes against it. The Council was re-elected wit-h the exception of the substitution -of Colonel R. 0. Chcsneyfor Mr N..R. Balneaves. It was recommended to ,tlie Councilthat the amateur and open events be separated. " ‘
