HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th. The Council met at 7.30 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), T. W. Duff, A. R. Elcock, D. J. 'Evans, A. C. Armstrong, E. W. Heenan, G. Heinz, J. King, and Dr Teichelmann. An apology was made for the absence of Mr Turner. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Municipal Association, Wellington, (1) advising that the next conference of Delegates will be held in Invercargill on Wednesday, the sth March, 1930, and that remits must- 1 -reach the Secretary not later than the sth Novem her.—Received. (2) Suggesting that when plant is ordered in Great Britain, local bodies should specify that country of origin off plant, etc. should he definitely stated by tenderers. —Received. From Hon. Secretary, Canterbury Progress' League (Westland Committee), intimating that League meeting would be held on Friday, the 27th inst., at Westland County Chambers to consider proposal to exhibit Westland produce and industries at next Canterbury show, and asking that Council be represented at meeting.—Received. From Hokitika Harbour Board, forwarding notice re striking Harbour rate for year ending 30th September, 1929. —Received. From the River Tyne Imrovement Committee, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, forwarding copy of pamphlet “The. River Tyne.”—Received. From J. M. Key. application for employment.—Received; to be filed. From Miss Esther Ward, thanking Council for granting continued access to her property through Reserve No. 494.—Received. , , From Park and Murdoch, application to sub-divide Section 807, Stafford Street, by transferring approximately ten feet of the full width of the section to Mr T. W. Duff, owner off the adjoining section SOS, to improve his frontage and leaving Section 807 with a frontage of 56 feet.—Received and agreed to. From Treasurer, reporting receipts £IOO7 7s 2d, payments £246 3s, credit balance £l3B 2s Id.—Received. Accounts amounting to £876 8s lid were passed for payment. TENDERS FOR LEASING RESERVES. The Town Clerk renorted that the statutory notice in ccrnection with the leasing of reserves had been duly effected. , Only one tender was received, that of Harold ;Steelfe for section 533, Weld Street, at £4. This; was accepted, the upset having been £3 10s. The -Town Clerk stated the Council could now deal with the remaining sections within a period of twelve months, without the necessity of giving further public notice. The Council resolved to'pay the proposed visit to Lake Kanieri pipe line on Wednesday at 1.30 p.m. The Council adjourned at 7.45 p.m.
