N.Z. ATTRACTIONS

WELLINGTON, Sept. 21

“No one,” remarked the Minister for Internal Affairs and Publicity (the Hon. Mr de la Perelle) to-day, “can deny that New Zealand has the goods to offer from all standpoints—primary products generally, rich lands which are fully-producing, and scenic and sporting attractions. We are a long way from the Old Country and her markets, but in spite of that tins fair Dominion of ours has become popular for what it has to offer. Here we have easy facilities by rail, or steamer for travel, all our products are classified as first-class, as is the grandeur of our scenery. We can provide overseas people with a happy timef because we can cater for all tastes. An American tourist, who has been some weeks in the Dominion, called upon me yesterday. He said, “I like your country and the easy-no-fuss arrangements made for transport to the cities and resorts of both beautiful islands. The system adopted in Now Zealand hotels is good. One has not to tip a waiter or a maid 10 per cent, of your daily bill; you just give a donation when you are leaving. That’s a fine plan, and does not worry a traveller.’ That is certainly a bouquet for our New Zealand hotels. I personally know that tye best is done for their patrons. It is the spontaneous testimony from overseas visitors that I like. I feel certain that the standard will be maintained.”
