(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) SCOTT BEATS CAMPOLO. A POPULAR DECISION. NEW YORK, Sept. 24.. The boxing contest between the heavyweights, Campolo (Argentina) and Phi} Scott (England) resulted in a win for Scott on points. Campolo weighed 15 stons 13 lb, and Scott 15 stone 5 lb. There was a dispute over the oil that Scott had rubbed on and over the tape he had on his hands but the Argentinian declared that the Englishman could use as much as he liked. - Campolo took the offensive in tlie first round, and he gained the round. In the second round the Argentinian drew blood from his opponent’s nose, and they both were slugging away furiously at the bell. The referee had to pry them apart. This round wept to Scott, as also did the following round, in which the Englishman outboxed bis opponent. The fourth round was an even one. The fifth round went to Scott, wiio got over several hard right smashes to the head. In the sixth round Campolo was warned for hitting low, but the Argentinian gained the round. The seventh round was an even one. The eighth round was also even. In the ninth round the referee warned Scott for pushing Campolo in the face with his open glove. It was a round of close in-fighting, but Campolo was slowing up, and be appeared to be discouraged. It was Scott’s round. In the tenth, Scott was rushing his man all over the ring, and he had the better of an exchange as the fight came to an end, Scott won the decision, which was a popular one. ITALIAN WINS. THE FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE. NEW YORK, Sept. 24. At Hartford, Connecticut, Bat Battalino, a young Italian, weighing 124 J pounds, took the featherweight championship from_ Andre Routis, who scaled 125:1- pounds. Tile latter fought gamely for the ten rounds, despite numerous cuts on his head. Battalino pushed the fight throughout, and he beat Routis with a continuous barrage of hard rights and lefts.
