The Minister of Mines, in a speech at Sheffield, declared that as soon as Parliament re-opens, ‘ steps will he taken to reduce the coal miners’ holirs. Parliament, he said, would be tested on the issue.

The British United Press Moscow correspondent states that M. Kykov, when addressing the Congress of Soviets, emphasised that M. Dovgalevsky’s - authority was strictly limited to questions’ of procedure. M. Rykov attacked the MacDonald Government for playing what he termed a dubious game of catching Labour votes and Conservative goodwill at the same time.
