An important Catholic newspaper of Bilogna, the Avenire d’ltalia, publishes an interview with Signor Dandria, the Minister of Education at Malta in the Ministry that preceded Lord Strickland’s present Ministry. Signor Dandriii attacks Lord Strickland’s Catholic policy. The election depended on how far the Imperial authorities continued to stand by Lord Strickland’s policy. The Pope had already given a warning that his policy was harmful to Imperial interests, and not only those in Malta. . Signor Dandria said 116 hoped that Britain would listen to the voice of the oppressed people desiring liberation from a man whom the Maltese patriots regarded as an incubus and a scourge. The “ Daily Telegraph’s ” Rome correspondent adds that, although Signor Dandria’s viewpoint is representative | of an important section of Maltese political life, as well as of the Vatican opinion, ..they somewhat exaggerate the present Maltose situation.
