Tlie annual seven-a-side tourney at Kumara, for junior teams, was held on Saturday m ideal football weather, but the ground was in very heavy condition, and slowed up play somewhat, although some very excellent games were witnessed. lhe winning team, (Jobden, played good football throughout, and thoroughly deserved their win Their superior combination, pace and solid low tackling was the nucleus of their success. Stars played well in the final, but were beaten by a faster team. Araliura, Kiwi A, and Excelsiors also fielded good sevens, and provided some exciting games. Hie Golden Bay-Motueka reps, retained the Seddon Shield to-day, when they defeated Nelson, the challengers by 18 points to 11. - In the first half the Pay iforwards were superior, their tight packing being a feature of the game. Snodgrass scored tlie first try for Nelson, but Dasli then scored a try for Bay, which Holyoake converted. The score remained eight points to three in Bay’s favour at half time. Nelson drew level when Snodgrass scored , a try which he converted, and it then looked like a victory for- the challengers. However, in quick time,' Schwas's and Lash scored tries for Bay, both of which Wright converted, which gave Bay a comfortable margin. Later G. Snriw made up three points of leeway for Nelson with a penalty goal. Smith, the Bay’s full-back played a great game. Alax was the best forward on the ground.

MARLBOROUGH WIN. BLENHEIM, September 21. Playing more to form and in a sustained fashion, Marlborough forwards proved definitely superior to the Canterbury Country touring team, which met defeat here to-day by 21 to 15 in the final match of the tour. The Canterbury backs were nippier, and handled more surely than the Marlborough rearguard, but their attacks were repeatedly broken up by the homo spoilers.
