WIRELESS TELEPHONE

EXTENSION FROM BRITAIN TO AUSTRALIA.

vßritish Offic Wireless.)

RUGBY, Sept. 18.

Extension of the wireless telephone service to include communication between Great Britain and Australia is probable withim the next few weeks. Tests over an extended period have proved satisfactory, and the opening of the service to the public will be announced when an agreement as to the schedule of charges has been fixed. It is beliveed that business houses will make wide use of the service when it comes into operation. The wireless telephone service between London and New York is now almost continuous, at a charge of £9 for three minutes. Calls of one hour’s duration, and sometimes longer, are occasionally made by British and American financiers.
