RIP VAN WINKLE

The Hokitika amateurs have seldom produced a more successful entertainment than the effort in the comic opera “ Rip Van Winkle.” It was produced here recently to three crowded houses, and when presented next Thursday as a benefit for the funds of the Hokitika Fire Brigade another bumper house awaits it.

The opera will be produced in its entirety under the baton of Mrs Staveley who is responsible in the main for this memorable production. The caste is an excellent one, the latent local talent which was discovered and brought out by the opera being a very pleasing surprise indeed. All the principals will appear and repeat their successes, which means that a most enjoyable entertainment will be provided. The stage presentation will be on the complete lines of previously, including tiie dressing, mounting, and lighting. All are assisting cheerfully, and being the final performance of the opera it is intended that it shall excel the previous presentations.

Popular prices are charged, and .with the object in view there is sure to be a crowded house. Seats are available for booking in the dress circle, there being no booking fee charged.
