Pennoil (Mornington) 72. i l>r Jarman- remarked that he was pleased to be able to say that'again, as was the case last year, this was 1 a strong and good section. All the ' , - competitors did well. A well-studied rendering and thoughtful and lofty interpretation of the ! music was not easy. Miss Bald had a beautiful quality of voice and purity of tone which was well contrcj’led. Each, note was well sung and her phrasing was especially pleasing. \ Miss Bond displayed a really ' beautiful : contralto ’ quality, but her production was not' altogether even. Hei’ phrasing was well done, and she had it . nice sense of expression. Miss Green also had a beuutiful quality of voice, but her phrasing was affected by very faulty breath control. The quality of Miss Wilkie’s voice was really excellent, but her intonation was not always quite sure. Her tone was not round on the, “E” vowel.
