WESTRALIAN BUDGET. Press Association). PERTH,, Sept. 18. The Westralian State Budget shows that for' the past years there was a deficit of £275,968. The estimate of revenue for the current year is £lO,019,000 and a surplus of £105,000 is anticipated. 'No fresh taxation is proposed. STATE BANK FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIA. ADELAIDE, Sept. 18. The public have subscribed thirtyfive per cent, of a locally-placed half million loan for a South Australian State Bank. A. team representing New Zealand University Colleges affirmed that the emergence of women was a depressing feature in modern life, in a debate at the University Union. The subject was discussed with certain humour generally and the New Zealanders won by an overwhelming majority. OBITUARY. SYDNEY, September 19. Obituary.—Rev. R. .T. Middleton, aged 80. He was one of. the oldest Baptist Ministers in the State and senior minister in point of continuous service, spending 56 years in the Baptist ministry. Two daughters, Mrs Austin and Mrs lugs, are resident in New Zealand.
