(Received this day at II a.m.l LONDON, September 17. i file first woman road scout of the new organisation for patrol duty on Surrey roads is Elsie Horton, who a few days ago was a mannequin in a West End store. She says it is a great contrast with patrolling roads, but does not intend to cease being feminine because it is a man’s job. The colour scheme of her uniform is a red and blue lngh-necked tunic with a peaked cap, worn at a jaunty angle, black gaiters and white gauntlets. Her equipment consists of a first-aid outfit and, possibly, powder puffs.
